It's elementary my dear, Watson! Elementary!

"We need to solve this mystery!"

Caleb loves to dress up and pretend! Lately he's been into solving "mysteries." It's really quite fun to see him use his imagination. This child is so creative! He blows me away with his ideas sometimes. And seriously, how cute is he in his detective get-up?! He put it together himself.

He's got his magnifying glass, his thinking cap, & his clue notebook. What more could he need? Oh yeah, a mystery!

I wonder how I can make this educational for him...maybe send my little detective out on a hunt for a certain letter or amount of something...hmmm...Do YOU have any ideas?

  1. What a cutie!
Before my kids could read I would take index cards and draw pictures on them of places in the house - a cupboard, a dollhouse, etc. and that would be a clue for their scavenger hunt. When they went to the place, the next card would be there and the last place was a treat of some sort.
Have him find that missing sock that's disappeared!

  3. Thanks for the ideas! I tried it today - very impromtu but it was fun. At first Caleb said, "I don't want to hunt for pictures!!" He wasn't very excited till the end when he found a stash of marshmallows stuffed inside his firetruck :) Then of course he caught on & wanted to do it again!

  4. How about hiding the makings for dirt pudding. The box of pudding, the pkg of oreos, gummy worms, et. Then let him help make dessert for the family. Also, could also use bible stories, like have him find a slingshot (tree branch) and a rock, etc. Then read the story together. You are truly a awesome mom, Julie, as we all knew you would be! Dawn

  5. Just adding on to Dawn's idea - after you read the story - then act it out!!!!
Scott loved chopping off his Dad's head (Goliath). Where's that Andy?
